You’ve come further than you realize

you've come further than you realize.

Have you ever caught yourself dwelling on the future? Or the potential of where you could be? Have you ever caught yourself dwelling on “what if”? So much so that you forgot to look at how far you have already come? What if I told you that You’ve come further than you realize

We can get so immersed in the idea of another goal to reach, problem to solve, thing to want, or another version of ourselves.

In life, especially in our day and age, our attention is constantly focused on what is next or what could be. It is easy to overlook everything that has already arrived in our life. It is easy to overlook everything that we already have.

Here’s the thing, though: you have more than you think! You have more than you realize, and you are further along in life than you realize!

You’ve Carried This Long Enough

You've Carried This Long Enough

Take a moment and think about everything you have carried with you up to this point.

Take a moment to recognize the things you might not be able to let go of. Old mistakes, disappointments, expectations, could-ofs, would-ofs the list goes on.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the things we wish we had done differently, or the things that didn’t work out as we hoped, or the versions of ourselves we have outgrown but haven’t let go of.

Consider this: you don’t have to carry everything forever.

Letting go does not have to mean that something is not important. It also does not mean you have to forget what happened to act like nothing happened at all or that it did not affect you. Sometimes letting go simply means you have decided the past no longer needs to take up space in your present.

There is a saying from twelve-step programs that goes like this: “Take what you need and leave the rest”

Keep the lessons, the growth, and the strength that you gained from what you have been through, but put down some of the weight that you have carried with you long enough.

Positive Affirmations – You’ve Carried This Long Enough

You’re Doing Better Than You Think, You’ve come further than you realize.

You're Doing Better Than You Think

When you let go in life, you make room for more at the same time. Here is where things change: when you let go, you allow yourself mental space and clarity to recognize your own progress.

Furthermore, we may underestimate our own progress simply because it gets lost in the day-to-day of life.

Growth does not always make itself known to us. Growth and progress are a gradual process that you do not always recognize until you look back and see how far you have taken yourself.

For example, think of who you were a year ago or five years ago. Take a moment and think about something that you once worried about that no longer crosses your mind. Think for a moment about the things you had hoped for that are now a regular part of your life.

In addition, there are situations that you know how to handle that may have overwhelmed you in the past. Think of all the things you have learned, the boundaries you have created, the relationships you have built, and the decisions you have made that have all brought you here today.

Likewise, you may not be exactly where you want to be yet. But here’s the thing: you’re not where you started either!

Give yourself credit for where you have been, where you are now, and where you are going!

Positive Affirmations You’re Doing Better Thank You Think

You Have So Much to Be Grateful For

At this time, we have discussed the process of letting go and recognizing what we already have; we can now take a moment to be grateful for all that we have.

Gratitude is a powerful thing. Look around you. Not at the future, not at what others have, and certainly not at what is missing. Look at what is already here, right in front of you.

Think for a moment of the people who love you, the people you love, the fact that you have a place to sleep, food to eat, clean running water to drink, a favorite song, health, abilities, the beauty of the sunrise or sunset, your children, your pets, or even something that made you laugh today.

Gratitude does not require things to be extraordinary; gratitude can be ordinary!

As a result, we may realize that the things we are most grateful for are the things that have become ordinary in our lives. When looking closer, you may see that there are things in your life today that a younger version of you desperately hoped for. Take a moment and appreciate these things.

Positive Affirmations – You Have So Much To Be Grateful For

You Can Want More and Still Appreciate What You Have

Given all that we have discussed, it may feel contradictory to say that you can still want more in your life while being grateful for what you have. But it’s not really about wanting. It is more about not letting yourself give up on the goals you have set for yourself. Being proud of yourself does not mean you need to stop moving forward and growing. Recognition of your progress does not mean the journey is over! Remember: You’ve come further than you realize

Be grateful for today and be excited about tomorrow. Know that you’ve come further than you realize. Appreciate who you are while striving to become the person that you want to be. Celebrate how far you’ve come while still having somewhere you want to go. Two things can be true at once!

Look Back Before You Look Ahead. You’ve come further than you realize.

Look Back Before You Look Ahead. You’ve come further than you realize.

In short, every once in a while, take a moment and stop measuring your life by the distance between where you are and where you want to be. Instead, look at the distance that you have taken yourself.

Remember the difficult days you have made it through. Think about the times you kept going when you didn’t know if you could. Think about all of the lessons, changes, victories, and the ordinary days that have slowly added up to the person you are today.

Look at what surrounds you and what is still ahead of you. There is so much in your life already. It is okay to let go and to release. You have carried the past long enough. You can give yourself credit for how far you’ve come. Appreciate everything you already have because you have more than you think. You have come further than you realize. You’re doing better than you think. You’ve come further than you realize
